In 1947, a shepherd stumbled upon a hidden cave along the shore of the Dead Sea. Concealed inside were ancient scrolls that had not been seen for 2,000 years. After extensive excavation, 972 remarkably preserved scrolls were found, including the earliest Biblical texts ever discovered. Now known as the Dead Sea Scrolls, they have been called the most significant archaeological find of the last century.
A rare opportunity exists. Central’s Evangelism/Membership Ministry is sponsoring a trip to see the Dead Sea Scrolls Exhibit at the Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal (1301 Western Avenue; Cincinnati, OH 45203; http://www.cincymuseum.org. Directions: Take I-75 south toward downtown Cincinnati. Take the right side exit, Exit 2A, Western Avenue. Merge onto Western going south (do not turn); Museum Center entrance is on the right at the third traffic light.). We will meet Monday, March 18th at 1:00pm at Central in the parking lot so that we can share rides. If you want a ride, or if you can take riders, please notify Lynn Rogers by email email@example.com or by cell 937-902-2489. We will not stay together as a convoy because of the traffic. We will start the tour at approximately 2:00pm. We will meet at 5:00pm at Champs Americana (9424 Civic Centre Blvd, West Chester, OH 45069; exit mile marker 19; east of I-75; Union Centre Blvd). The following Wednesday, March 20th, our regular Bible study may discuss the Dead Sea Scrolls briefly.
