Administrative Assistant to Church Office


In this part time position – 24 hours per week, the administrative assistant will perform administrative and office support activities for the Senior Pastor, Executive Board Moderator, Ministry Chairs, and Music Director. Duties may include fielding telephone calls, receiving and directing visitors, mailings, word processing such as letters, documents, worship materials, and presentations. Position Requirements for the Administrative Assistant to Central Christian Church Office

In this part time position – 24 hours per week, the administrative assistant will perform administrative and office support activities for the Senior Pastor, Executive Board Moderator, Ministry Chairs, and Music Director. Duties may include fielding telephone calls, receiving and directing visitors, mailings, word processing such as letters, documents, worship materials, and presentations. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Publisher. The Administrative Assistant reports directly to the Senior Minister.  Compensation is $12.00 per hour. A review will be conducted after six months.

  • Senior Minister, Executive Board Moderator and Human Resources Team

Education & Experience:

  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience in related field
  • Proven track record of success in a paid administrative/coordination position

Skill Requirements:

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Publisher
  • Proficiency in the Use of Standard Office Tools (Typewriter, Copy Machine, etc.)
  • Ability to problem solve and prioritize
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Ability to take an idea/vision and run with it toward completion
  • Excellent spoken communication and writing skills and the demonstrated ability to develop written reports, bulletins, PowerPoint slides, newsletters: print and electronic formats
  • Strong follow through in details
  • Ability to enter, maintain and retrieve data in automated systems
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and files
  • Ability to be flexible to the needs of the church and work in a fast pace environment
  • Strong organizational skills

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a first impression via phone or face-to-face interactions
  • Schedule events and meetings as required for the pastor
  • Prepare and file administrative reports
  • Assist ministries with event planning and management of unpaid leaders/volunteers of events and programs
  • Connect with ministry chairs, elders, organizations who use the building – to confirm event details and scheduled participation
  • Coordinate room set-ups and ensure representatives of events or initiatives are well equipped to be successful
  • Financial management of purchase orders, reporting, and ordering
